Why do my old glass beads smell like vinegar? I am an avid bead collector, and I store my glass beads in plastic boxes that have individual compartments. Lampwork glass bead making: which torches & fuels have you used? I have recently taken a lampwork beadmaking class, and I would like to purchase a torch (along with other supplies) so I can work my magic at home. I need to find a reasonably priced torch, can anyone offer any advice? The glass shop uses minor bench burner torches with natural gas & oxygen. These retail for about $500 or so (with the tanks, hozes, etc). This is a bit out of my price range. The shop sells starter kits which include hothead torches which require MAPP gas. Has anyone used these? They're about $225 (just less than half of the price). What are the advantages & disadvantages to using this vs. the minor bench burners, other than cost? Has anyone used this with glass? MAPP gas is also more expensive. Any advice will be appreciated, thanks!
"Lampworking", Glass Bead Making Lessons? I have wanted to learn to do this for many years. I love crafts and especially enjoy creating things. I think this would be a perfect hobby for me, especially since I enjoy jewelry making. However, I live in an area where there is little education available. No classes are available to me. I have been researching and watching videos on the internet and plan to visit my local library to check on videos and books, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend any helpful books or videos for a beginner that might cover all I need to know in order to begin. Thanks!

I'm looking for cheap plastic and glass beads in wholesale bulk lots? I need to order beads by the thousands. A few of you have answered my previous question on the same thing but I can't reply to my own post so I'll thank you here. I called the canadian site and they said that there price is per bead. I can get smaller quantities down the road at the fabric store but they have very limited selection. At least there I can get 315, 8mm beads for less then $2. Less then a penny a bead. I just love the more professional look of the glass beads. I've been getting the clear beads and using the Krylon Plastic paint to make a few different colors but the paint is heavy in some spots and the clear bead sticks out in other spots. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanx, Jason

i have established my self as a good glass maker in the field of dichroic beads,? untill now i have been selling to wholesalers or jobbers who untill now have been reselling them at a hefty mark up,this is understandable as they do the leg work.i need to make a change,i need some thoughts here?as this is a one man show and the beads mostly go to a few bead shops i cant handle the ad work and am restricted to the beads i can make a day.i am quasi famous in this feild and took a long time to get there.i think e bay may be the way to go as i dont want to haggle with prices,.send pamphletts or talk on phone to long, will Ebay be a good thing for a guy like me?i know im reaching people with bussiness smarts(thats YOU reading this) and i guess to sum it it up is ebay the way to go if my expertees is concetrated on the production end of the one-man show,i have ruled out a web page because every bead i make sells out fast.thank you for your help and this company buys all raw materials in usa where i may be creating a glass bead from your disscarded pop bottle.
Which glue should I use to stick Micro Beads onto glass or ceramics? I love to make jewellery and would like to use Micro beads to edge / frame pieces of glass, pottery and ceramics. Which type of glue would you suggest to use for this purpose? It will have to be strong enough to adhere to glass, yet not too thick as the micro beads are barely bigger than grains of sand! Am I asking for the impossible here??!!! I look forward to hearing your ideas - many thanks for your time & help with this!
Inexpensive jewelery making supplies and beads? Does anyone know where I can find inexpensive jewelry making "stuff"? I really like dichroic glass, but the beads are so expensive individually!
