Glass Beads For Sale

wedding decor- great idea or horrible idea?

My wedding is in October. My colors are Chocolate, mocha and mango. My fiance and I are paying for everything so we are on a tight budget. I was thinking instead of the exact same centerpiece at every table we could do something a bit more random and antique feeling. Half the tables would have a candle inside a holder (vase, hurricane lamp, etc) of some kind and some glass beads on a mirror. The catch is I would use mis-matched vases, all clear. That way I could get them at yard sales and thrift stores, etc I would go in search of all kinds of crazy shapes, not your typical shapes. Then half the tables would have a floral arrangement on them. What do you think. Does it say antique or cheap o? Do you have any great ideas?

  1. As long as you are happy with what you did in the end it doesnt matter what other people think. But to be honest it seems like you are seriously questioning what you are thinking of doing which is not a good thing. Make sure whatever you decide, when you look back at pictures you will be happy with what you did.
  2. I think it is an excellent idea! It sounds very vintage, as long as you make sure the vases look clean and not tacky.
  3. I think that it sounds very cool but I'm not a matchy type of person. With it being in october you could use harvest items as well, I know pumpkins are all over, but what about bitter sweet? or branches with fall leaves still on them?
  4. I think that would be a great idea. My daughter is getting married in Sept, same kind of colors, brown and burnt orange. We are having hanging lanterns on a charger plate with leaves all around. That is a pretty cheap idea also if you could find the lanterns at a craft store on clearance!! Good Luck.
  5. I think it is a great idea! My fiance's sister did this at her wedding and it worked out great! I don't think anyone really noticed anyway. They even did different color vases.
  6. I also think that is a wonderful idea for an eclectic antique theme. I think as long as the color scheme and flowers are the constant, then the vases would blend right in. I'm sure it will be lovely!! What a great idea to save money, I'm going to tuck that one away to use myself someday! Good luck!
  7. I am a very symmetrical person, but I really love this idea. Maybe do a pattern of candles, floral, candles.. and so on with your tables, to kind of keep a flow feeling going. One suggestion I'll make is maybe use a tiny dab of hot glue to keep the glass beads on the mirror, and not rolling all over the place.
  8. I think your idea is very unique and I think you should go for it! I just got done reading a chapter from the Weddings for Dummies book and I am going to quote what it says here... "Perhaps in the back of your mind you're worried that guests will dissect every aspect of the reception, playing that tacky guessing game of "how much do you think this cost?" STOP! Such thoughts can drive you crazy and make you skew your budget based on someone else's priorities. Besides, if you have friends who really think such things, why are you inviting them to your wedding?" Honestly, this set me straight in my plans and I hope it helps you as well!
  9. Nonmatching vases is OK in my book - probably add interest to the decor too. I volunteer in a thrift store and I know you can get wonder vases for little $.
  10. Sounds lovely to me - sounds interesting and even a little bit stylish ;) - go for it!
