Is it safe to dry-clean clothing with plastic beading?
I have some Indian clothing and was trying to find a dry-cleaning place that knew how to clean them. The only place that I found told me that they were unable to dry-clean clothing with plastic beading, and would only do it if there was glass beading (which nobody does anymore because glass beading is so heavy). Is this true? If that's the case, is there anyone who knows a better way to clean salwar kameez or churidar?

- i always thought it was safe,as dry cleaning is steaming of the clothes. maybe try a few other places good luck xxxx
- I had a dry cleaner ruin an Indian sari with plastic beads that melted into the fabric. I think the chemicals they use are too harsh. I have used the kits, like Dryel, that you use in the dryer but I set the dryer on air dry which has no heat. If you need to spot clean, dry carpet cleaning granules work really well, don't leave a water mark, remove most stains and don't damage delicate fabrics.
- Try to find a dry cleaner who uses petroleum solvent. They should be able to safely clean clothing with plastic (or any type) of beading. Most dry cleaning plants use perc, and that will melt many types of beads and even some buttons.
